About this Cookie Policy
This website is operated by Leigh Plumbing Merchants Ltd, 113 Chapel Street, Leigh, WN7 2DA. When this policy refers to "we", "us" or "our", it means Leigh Plumbing Merchants.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. They let a website remember information about your visit, such as your preferences, and help website owners understand how their site is used. Some cookies are set by the website you are visiting; others are set by third-party services that the website uses.
How we use cookies
We use cookies to:
- remember your cookie choices
- understand how visitors use our website, if you allow analytics cookies
- show a Google Map on our Contact page, if you allow it
We do not currently use advertising or marketing cookies. We only use non-essential cookies after you have given your consent.
Types of cookies we may use
We use three cookies on our own website, plus Google's own cookies if you choose to load the map.
The map on our Contact page does not load until you allow Maps cookies or click "Show map". Once it loads, Google may set its own cookies, which Google controls.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it.
It may collect information such as:
- the pages you visit and how long you stay
- how you arrived at our website
- the type of device and browser you use
- your general location, such as your country or city
We look at this information in aggregated, statistical form. Google Analytics only runs if you choose to allow analytics cookies. Google processes this information on our behalf; you can read more in Google's privacy policy.
Consent and managing your preferences
When you first visit our website, a cookie banner appears after a few seconds. You can choose:
- Accept all to allow analytics and maps cookies
- Reject all to use only essential cookies
- Manage preferences to choose each category yourself
Until you make a choice, we only use essential cookies. We remember your choice for 6 months, after which we will ask again.
You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw consent for analytics, we remove the Google Analytics cookies from your device. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing that took place before you withdrew it.
Third-party services
Google Analytics and Google Maps are provided by Google, which may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where personal information is transferred internationally, we take appropriate steps to make sure the transfer is lawful under UK data protection law. You can read how Google uses cookies in Google's cookie information.
How long cookies remain on your device
Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay on your device for a set period or until you delete them. The cookies we use, and how long each one lasts, are listed above under "Types of cookies we use".
Browser controls
Most browsers let you view, delete or block cookies in their settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the website from working properly. Your browser settings work separately from the cookie choices you make on our website.
Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this policy when we change the services we use or when the law changes. Any changes will be published on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
