System Blueprint 01 // Sub-Zero
The Science of Food Preservation
Dual Refrigeration Technology
Typical refrigerators rely on a single compressor to share air between the fridge and freezer. This forces frigid, dry air into the fresh food zone, dehydrating your ingredients while pulling moisture back into the freezer, causing frost build-up.
Sub-Zero’s pioneering Dual Refrigeration system utilizes entirely separate cooling loops. The refrigerator maintains optimal, targeted humidity to keep fresh foods crisp, while the freezer seals in frigid, dry air for deep freezing—completely eliminating odor transfer between the two compartments.

Optimal Humidity for Fresh Food:
Because the refrigerator isn't constantly blasted with dry freezer air, it maintains a naturally humid environment. This high-moisture climate is exactly what fresh fruits, vegetables, and cheeses need to stay crisp and flavourful for weeks longer than they would in a standard fridge.
Zero Odour Transfer:
The air in the fridge stays in the fridge, and the air in the freezer stays in the freezer. You can confidently store aromatic foods like onions or pungent cheeses without worrying about the scent leaching into your frozen desserts or ice maker.
Frigid, Dry Air for Deep Freezing:
By keeping the freezer environment completely dry and isolated, moisture is locked out. This dramatically reduces the formation of frost and virtually eliminates freezer burn, preserving the texture and taste of your prime cuts of meat and frozen goods.
